@DRealfriknKeenan If you find it hard to be persuaded, ask yourself if your urge for heterosexual behavior is a matter of choice. We are all also examples of “people in society…who are, by law, forced to go against their predisposition” In other words, we typically don’t satisfy our collective urges indiscriminately.

The capacity for choosing does exist, but it is finite and can vary depending on context. Our actions are usually a matter of choice, although our urges are not. There are situations where our capacity for overcoming our urges is diminished. This happens when we are inebriated, addicted or suffering from mental illness.
so you are agreeing w/ me that homo/bisexuality is a choice? there are people in society now who are, by law, forced to go against their predisposition. these people are rapists, pedophiles, and serial killers, people who do things just because they are predisposed to something (aka just because they want to) are detrimental to society. I might be “predisposed” to strangle puppies but does that mean I have to or that it is even the right thing to do? heck no!
@DRealfriknKeenan—> I agree that you can choose to act against your predisposition. Your use of the word reveals your acknowledgement of its existence. Unless you’re ambidextrous or bisexual, you can discern an asymmetry of dexterity or romantic desire that is ultimately unrelated to choice.
funny fact: being left-handed is a choice. it isn’t defined genetically (beyond the genes that designate that you have hands–lol). if you chop of a right-handed person’s right hand, they will become left-handed. if you tie a left-handed person’s left hand behind their back for a while (say a year or so) they will be right-handed (even after they excercise). you might be predisposed to be a lefty, but ultimately it is just what you choose.
@DRealfriknKeenan <–depends on your measure of ’significant’. Compared to phytoplankton, there is no ’significant’ difference genetically between simian and human. The genetic / in utero differences may be as subtle as that between left-handed and right-handed people. The challenge is how our culture handles normal human variability.

I definately have nothing against homosexuals because you do not choose who you fall in love with, so I dont see why they should be judged and condemed for loving another, regardless of gender.

what you described wasn’t a genetic process, though. genes are defined by the info in the sperm and the egg, not the mothers antibodies. these can effect the amount of estrogen the baby will produce as it ages which may have effect on behavior later, but it doesn’t mean that the baby is gay.
